Want to Contribute But Aren't Sure How?

If you want to be involved in the family research project but aren't sure how to go about it, here are some suggestions. Items can be scanned in and emailed to me, or you can contact me and we can make arrangements.

If you scan, please remember to increase the size to usually about 150-200% for small items or writing, such as on funeral cards or obituaries, or for smaller pictures.

What Am I Looking For?

  1. Remember that special stack of funeral cards or obituaries? Those are great sources of information. Scan one in. That's one more than we have now.
  2. Send in a story about your line of the family. We all have something to share.
  3. The next time you go to the cemetery, please remember us. Take your camera and snap a shot or two. Much family history information can be gathered by sharing information later--snap away.
  4. Visiting or live in a town you've seen mentioned here? Take that digital camera. There are so many places our ancestors and their descendants populated and the rest of us who love our genealogy would love to see what those places look like. Been to Tweed? How about Grand Rapids or Cohasset? Montreal or Lachenaie? Douglas, Oregon or Edmonton, Alberta? Please! Some of us won't ever get to those places, and photos taken by common descendants are so much more meaningful.
  5. Houses, farms, businesses, schools and buildings all connected to our family lines are important. Go digital.
  6. Please consider scanning in one of those old photos you have in that box in the closet. Some people have sent them to me via email as a scan, others have made copies and sent them, while others have loaned me originals which I've scanned and returned. My goal is to share as much and make as many connections in our family lines as we can.
  7. All hard copies are returned to the sender.
