Carmody, John S. - John S. Carmody Jr., 79, of Brandy Brook Road, chief refrigeration engineer for the former Narragansett Brewery before retiring in 1980, died yesterday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of Florence E. (Patnaude) Carmody. Mr. and Mrs. Carmody had celebrated their 54th anniversary on June 8. Born in Providence, a son of the late John S. Carmody Sr. and Gladys (Grace) Russ, he lived in Scituate for 50 years. As a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, he had attended the Maritime Service Training Station at Fort Trumbull, New London, Conn. He served for five years in the Atlantic, Pacific and Mediterranean war zones before retiring as lieutenant. Mr. Carmody was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Thomas J. Carmody of West Warwick, captain of the Warwick Police Department; a daughter, Lynda O. Marzahn of Coventry; a sister, Dorothy Blomquist; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held Thursday at 9:45 a.m. from the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Home, 649 Putnam Ave., Route 44, Greenville, Smithfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Joseph Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Cavanaugh, Nathalie Louise (Nettie) - Nettie L. Cavanaugh, 98, died Sunday, February 21, in Bay Medical Care Facility following a two year illness. She was born February 10, 1890, in Standish, the daughter of Edmund and Lavina LaClair, who were early settlers of the Pine River area. Nettie lived in that area until moving to Bay City in 1954. She was a member of St. Joseph Church and a charter member of the French Canadian Heritage Society in Michigan. June 11, 1912, she married Clarence LaLone, who predeceased her in death in March of 1919. She married Phillip Cavanaugh January 31, 1921, and he died in September of 1947. Surviving family members include 4 daughters and their husbands: Corinne and Frank Throop of Lansing, Laura and Harvey Stepanski of Bay City, Thelma and Albert Markby of Santa Barbara, California, and Phyllis and Edgar Hutfilz of Dunedin, Florida; 1 daughter-in-law Gladys LaLone of Lansing; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Ruth Shannon, of Mio. Nettie was also predeceased by 3 sons: Lawrence J and Marvin LaLone and John Cavanaugh; 1 brother, Solomon LaClair; and two sisters, Lavina Bissonnette and Laura Ives. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 25, at 10:30 a.m. in the W.A. Trahan Funeral Chapel, with mass following at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Church. Committal services will follow at 2:30 p.m in the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Cemetery, Standish. Parish prayers will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Trahan Chapel. Charette, Edmond A. - Edmond A. Charette, 73, of 191 Bloomfield St., a worker in the maintenance department of the School Department for 10 years before retiring in 1984, died yesterday at home. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Neville) Charette. Born in Pawtucket, he was a son of the late Joseph H. and Evelina (Gamache) Charrette. Mr. Charette previously was a lace maker at the former Bodell Lace Co. and Central Lace Co. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and a member of the Elks Lodge No. 920. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Dr. Edmond E. Charrette of Lexington, Mass., and Robert E. Charette Sr. of Pawtucket; two daughters, Carole Coleman of Pawtucket and Linda A. Caffrey of Cumberland; three sisters, Alice Niles of the Alton section of Richmond-Hopkinton, Rita Reed of East Providence, Jeannette Howard of Minneapolis, Minn.; and 13 grandchildren. Charette, Florence M. - Florence M. Charette, 85, of North Star Road, Ellenburg, died Thursday, April 21, 1994, at CVPH Medical Center, Plattsburgh. She was born July 9, 1908, in Ellenburg Center, the daughter of Edgar and Flora (Lash) LaClair. In her earlier years, Mrs. Charette taught CCD classes at St. Edmund's Church. She was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church, Ellenburg, and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Charette was also a member of Court Little Rose 1300 Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She was married to Francis Charette in 1925 and he died April 9,1976. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Harry (Veronica) LeClair of Utica, Bertha Snay of Cohoes, Mrs. Ivan (Elaine) Trombley of Chicopee, Mass., and Mrs. Paul (Lorraine) Tatro of Easthampton, Mass.; three sons, Leo Charette of Norristown, Pa., Morris Charette of Churubusco, and Royal Charette, of Williamson; three sisters , Irene Trombley of Ellenburg, Mrs. Francis (Beatrice) Dumas of Ellenburg and Rita Tourville of Plattsburgh; two brothers, Roy LaClair of Ellenburg and Donald LaClair of New Jersey; 25 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A son, Raymond Joseph Charette, died June 11, 1993. A sister, Leona Charette, died many years ago. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today in Chateaugay Funeral Home. Charette, Leona - Mrs. Leona Charette, 67, of Ellenburg Center, died October 12, 1974, at Massena Memorial Hospital. Born in Ellenburg Center, April 15, 1907, she was a daughter of Edgar and Flora Lash LaClaire and lived all of her life in that community. She was married to Wilfred Charette, who predeceased her some time ago. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Flora LaClaire of Ellenburg Center; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Rhoda) Nichols of Ellenburg, Mrs. David (Dorothy) Silmser and Mrs. Carl (Joyce) Dumas both of Massena, Mrs. James (Rita) Sherwin of Watertown and Mrs. Bernard (Shirley) Davis of Holyoke, Mass.; five sons, Edward and Bernard both of Syracuse and Russell, Roger and Richard all of Holyoke, one adopted son, Armand Blow of Holyoke; four sisters, Mrs. Francis ( Florence) Charette and Mrs. Irene Trombley both of Ellenburg,. Mrs. Francis (Beatrice) Dumas of Albany and Mrs. Leo (Rita) Tourville of Ellenburg Center; two brothers, Roy of Ellenburg Center and Donald of New Jersey; 41 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Charleston, Wesley Stephen - We wish to note the passing of Wesley Stephen Charleston, of Lakota Way, New Russia, N.Y., on Jan. 7, 2009, after a brief illness. He was born in Cherry Point, N.C., on Aug. 24, 1953, to Russell and Eleanor (McDonald) Charleston. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl MacFadden; his mother and stepfather, Bernard LaClair of Massena, N.Y.; three sons, Jake of St. Albans, Vt., Joshua and wife, Teresa of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jethro and wife, Mary of East Fairfield, Vt. Also surviving him are three stepchildren, Michael Reynolds, Ricky Lee Phillips and Madeline Phillips, all students; a half sister, Deborah Lashomb and husband, Bryan of Norfolk, N.Y.; and a half brother, Wayne Charleston and wife, Nancy of Massena. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Owen, Brielle, Sam, Taylor and Emily; and uncles and nieces. After graduating from high school in Massena, N.Y., Wes joined the U.S. Navy and served on the aircraft carrier Ranger until 1980. He worked during the 1980s for Alcoa Aluminum in Massena. Later, he held various positions in construction and maintenance in New York, Georgia and North Carolina, until settling in the Adirondacks in 2002. Wes was a self-employed contractor, substitute bus driver for Keene and Elizabethtown schools and a dedicated coach of both basketball and baseball. Known throughout the North Country for his craftsmanship and honesty in building repairs and painting, Wes' workmanship is exhibited on town halls and residences. Wes' infectious laugh and easy-going manner, along with his salt and pepper beard and vintage motorcycles, made him a local trademark. Sports and most importantly, good sportsmanship, played an important part of his life. Calling hours will be held at Marvin's Funeral Home in Elizabethtown on Friday, Jan. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. A celebration of Wesley's life will take place at the Keene Valley Congregational Church in Keene Valley on Saturday, Jan. 10, at 10 a.m. with a reception to follow at the church. Cieslinski, Louis F. - Louis F. Cieslinski rites in Fisherville.  Louis F. Cieslinski, age 83, of Midland, Michigan, passed away
Wednesday morning, March 31, 2004, at Brittany Manor.  He was born May 4, 1920 in Fisherville, son of the late Walter and Cecelia
(Prill) Cieslinski.  He served in the United States Army and married the former Frances Andrzejewski on October 27, 1945 in
Pinconning.  He was employed with the Dow Chemical Company for 37 years as a machinist, retiring in 1981.  He loved gardening
and working outside after his retirement and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, spending time with his family and helping his kids
with various projects.  He was a loving husband, dad and Papa and is survived by his wife, Fran, three daughters and their spouses:
Maxine and Robert K. Hall of Pinconning, Gloria LaClair and Clayton LaFave of Petoskey, Debra and Randy Wiggins of Midand; sister
and brothers: Frances and Charles Ball of Bay City, Ed and Delores Cieslinski, Floyd and Barbara Cieslinski, Henry and Carol
Cieslinski all of Auburn ; a sister-in-law, Alice Cieslinski of Bay City; five grandchildren: Pamela Hall, Amy Deffenbaugh, Amanda

Clark, John F. - John F. Clark, 76, of West Main Street in Chateaugay died Oct. 9, 2001, at Fletcher-Allen Health Care in Burlington, N.Y. He was born in Brainardsville, N.Y., on March 6, 1925, the son of Francis and Mary (Baker) Clark. He was married to Louella Thibeault on Sept. 8, 1952, at St. Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay. Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 49 years; three daughters Lorraine Simmons of Bowie, Md., Diane Clark of Malone, and Randie Juntunen and her husband, Bryan of Merrill; two sons, Clarence and his wife, Jean of Stafford, Va., and John F. Jr. and his wife, Luci of Oak Hill, Va.; three granddaughters, Crystal Simmons and Kelsey and Meagan Juntunen; a nephew, Michael Dwyer of Wampsville, N.Y.; and a niece, Mary Dwyer Cromp of Malone. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Beatrice Clark Dwyer. John was a dairy farmer in Brainardsville for 38 years before moving to Chateaugay in 1988. He was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Chateaugay and was employed by the church and cemetery as a caretaker. Serving as Chateaugay Town Justice for a number of years, he was a member the State Magistrates Association. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 469 of Chateaugay. He was an avid bowler and bowled in several separate leagues. Callings hours will be held at Chateaugay Funeral Home on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2001, in St. Patrick’s Church, with Rev. Fay Ager officiating. Clayton, Alice R. - Alice R. Clayton, 80, of 15 Cottage St. died Thursday (May 12, 1988) in Noyes Memorial Hospital. She was born in Dansville, a daughter of Leonard and Helen Patterson Tucker. She had resided in Rochester for 35 years before returning to Dansville 17 years ago upon the retirement of her late husband, Otis D. Clayton who died Aug. 1, 1981. She was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church and the Noyes Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Surviving are three sons, Robert of Conesus, William of Brockport and Thomas of Greece; three daughters, Marjorie Fuller of Geneseo, Jacquelyn Rotundo of Akron and Catherine Graham of Livonia; 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A service was conducted Monday morning in the Hindle Funeral Home of Dansville with the Rev. James P. Bender officiating. Interment was in Greenmount Cemetery, Dansville. Clayton, Duane Wesley - Clayton, Duane Wesley, Maple Ridge, Michigan, age 73, passed away on February 18, 2003 in Orlando, Florida. Duane was born on March 12, 1929 in Arenac County. He married Marilyn Lawrence on October 1, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 8, 1986. Duane will be sadly missed by their two children: son, Ritchie (Bonnie) Clayton of Bay City and daughter, Laurie Coleman of Mt. Morris; his three grandchildren: Tony (Trish) Lantzer, and Victoria (Rob) Call of Mt. Morris, Jason Clayton of Bay City; his only great-grandson, Devon Call and Duane's special fiend, Becky Schultz. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Lauckner and Wesley Clayton. Duane worked at General Motors Metal Fab - Van Slyke plant for 30 years retiring in 1978. He was a WWII Veteran and a member of the Elks Lodge #1830 of Winter Park, Florida, the American Legion #370, the Moose Lodge #440, the Masonic Temple and the 488 Club. Duane was an avid bowler, Euchre player, hunter and fisherman. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Maple Ridge, Michigan. Clayton, Frances M. - Dansville - Frances M. Clayton, 82, died Saturday, July 13, 2002 at Noyes Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Frances was born in Dansville on March 28, 1920, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ernestine Holbrook. She was a graduate of the Dansville Central School District, and for many years had been employed as a nurse’s aid for many of the area health care facilities. On December 1, 1961, she was married to the late Dorr Clayton and helped operate the Clayton Delicatessen in Dansville on Clara Barton St. until 1972. In her later years, she was a self-employed business woman in the Dansville area. She was a true friend and matriarch to her immediate and extended family. Frances is survived by two sons, Vincent (Cheryl) Clayton of Rochester and Donald (Kay) Clayton of Kysorville; two daughters Anita Stewart and Deborah (Thomas) Sweeney, both of Dansville; grandchildren Jennifer Bowie, Amy Smith and Mike Duryea; two great-grand-children; and many nieces and nephews. Friends called Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Sullivan Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 4 Perine St., Dansville. Funeral services were held at St. Peter’s Memorial Episcopal Church, Dansville on Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial was to take place at Glenwood Cemetery in Perry. Clayton, Frank - Frank Clayton, 55 years old, 733 Cornell av, died at Hurley hospital yesterday of a cerebral hemorrhage after an illness of a few days. He was born on April 27, 1876, in Maple Ridge, Mich., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Philoh Clayton. He came to Flint 18 years ago. On June 3, 1898, he was married in Maple Ridge to Eliza Turner, who survives him. Other survivors are four sons, Roy, Melvin, Willard and Charles, all of Flint; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Miller of Escanaba and Mrs. Thelma Travis, Mrs. Rhea Hughey, Mrs. Edna Nelson and Miss Bernice Clayton, all of Flint; a brother, Ablie Clayton of Saginaw; a sister, Mrs. Frank Eymer of White Pigeon, and four grandchildren. Clayton, Melvin - Rites Friday for GI Killed by Lightning - Services will be Friday in Portland, Me., for First Sgt. Melvin Clayton, 29, whose mother, Mrs. Ruby Clayton, lives at 914 Elizabeth St. Sgt. Clayton was killed by lightning Thursday night at Fort Dix, N.J. Head of a platoon, he was in a bivouac area during a severe electrical storm. A man near him when the accident occured was hospitalized for shock and later released. Sgt. Clayton was a native of Flushing and attended school there before enlisting in the Army in 1946. Among those surviving are his wife, Vivian, Portland, three daughters, five brothers and two sisters. Clayton Robert D. - Clayton, Robert D. - Of Flushing, age 58, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Genesys Regional Medical
Center-Health Park. Funeral services will be held 3PM Saturday, February 7, 2004 at Rossell Funeral Home, Rev. Duane Miller will
officiate. Cremation will follow services. Visitation will be held 6-9PM Thursday, and 12-9PM Friday, and Noon until the time of service
on Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Clayton was born in Flushing, MI on February 6, 1945, the son of Melvin and Ruby (Hillier) Clayton.
He married Sharon Hook on June 14, 1991 in Flushing, MI. Mr. Clayton was a member of FOE #3485 and a member of the UAW Local
#659 where he was a union representative for 30 years and received the Walter Reuther Award. He worked at GM SPO for 30 years
and during that time received a GM Life Saving Award. Surviving are: wife, Sharon Clayton of Flushing; 8 children, Robert D. and wife
Carrie Clayton of Clio, Neal A. and wife Shelly Clayton of Davison; Daniel W. Clayton of Clio; Kathleen A. and husband Jim Baumgart of

Clune was employed by the late Dr. William Mertz and had worked for Dr. Michael Hall of Flint before retiring in 1986, after 18 years.

Colburn, Darwin L. - Darwin L. Colburn, 79, of the EarIville Road, Chateaugay, was called to the gates of heaven on April 8, 2003. Born Nov. 30, 1923, in Dannemora, he was the loving son of Harry and Beulah Colburn who predeceased him. In his early years, he was employed by Republic Steel, Lyon Mountain. Darwin became a heavy construction employee for over 40 years. He was a member of 1249 Electrical Workers, the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106 and 549 for 49 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Malone Moose Lodge and the Franklin County Association of Senior Citizens. He loved to hunt, fish, joyride and give whatever was needed to help others. His favorite pastime was visiting with anyone he met. The woman of his dreams came into his life in 1944. On June 1, 1946, Amelia LeClair became his wife. They were married by the late Msgr. Floyd Brown in St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay. For 56 years he was totally devoted to her. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sunshine of his life. Besides his wife of 56 years, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Faith Colburn of Kentucky, Robert Colburn and his companion Cheryl Mason of Arizona and David and Pam Colburn of Plattsburgh; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and William Holbrook, Deborah Recore of Chateaugay and Karen and Ray Markel of Plattsburgh; and one daughter-in-law, Joanne Recore Colburn of Plattsburgh. The treasures of his life were his 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was patiently waiting for two more great-grandchildren to arrive. He shared stories, memories and his lifesavers with them. He is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law: Nettie LeClair of Syracuse, Muriel and Floyd Fish of Ticonderoga, Etola and Irving Genier of Mineville, Harold and Jeanette Colburn of Port Henry, James Colburn of Elizabethtown, Joan Colburn of Port Henry and Art O'Brien of Crown Point. Darwin was predeceased by one son-in-law, Gary Recore; one brother, Chester Colburn; one sister, Agnes O'Brien; and his parents. Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Chateaugay Funeral Home on Saturday, April 12, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Patrick's Church, Chateaugay, at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will take place in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chateaugay. For those who wish to come, we will meet at the Knights of Columbus after Mass. Cooley, Robert David - Cooley, Robert David Age 76, of Flint, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at his residence. Per Robert's request, cremation has taken place and private services have been held. Those desiring may make contributions to Avalon Hospice. Robert was born October 30, 1931 in Flint, where he had resided his entire life. He married Phyllis C. Curtis February 2, 1948 in Flint. He retired from McDonald Dairy after 35 years of service. He was a member of Mt. Morris Masonic Lodge #535 F.&A.M. Surviving are: wife, Phyllis; 2 daughters, Karen and husband Rev. Michael Carr of Dearborn Heights, Marcia and husband Kenneth Smith of Waterford; 3 grandchildren, Thomas and wife Tammy Stadler of Flushing, Melissa Smith of Waterford, Melanie and husband Daniel Bergman of Commerce Township; 5 great grandchildren, Kristi, Jack, Sam, Megan and Zoe; sister-in-law, Barbara "Brat" Glenn and family; special Susan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Glenora; 2 sons, Larry and Robert Cooley; 2 great-grandchildren, Andrea and Thomas; brother, Richard Cooley. Flint Journal, March 2008

Curtis, Edra J.
- Curtis, Edra J. - Of Burton, age 84, died Monday, January 3, 2000 at Maplewood Manor in Clio.  Memorial service will
be held at 11AM Friday, January 7, 2000 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Reverend Walter Reynolds officiating.  
Cremation has taken place.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.  Mrs. Curtis was born in
Flint, Michigan on October 29, 1915, the daughter of Earl and Sarah Parmeter and was a resident of Flint and Burton all of her life.  She
married Lewis K. Curtis in 1950.  She was a former member of Court Street Methodist Church.  She was also a member of City of Flint Employees Club, Burton Senior Citizens and the Burton VFW Post #2777 Ladies Auxiliary.  Mrs. Curtis was employed by the City of
Flint for 15 1/2 years, retiring in 1969.  Surviving are son, William and wife Donna Rapin of Flint; 3 grandchildren, Todd Allen Rapin,
LIsa Kuhn, Kenneth and wife Brenda Portz; 7 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Andrew Rapin
and Lewis K. Curtis; grandson, Paul Rapin and her parents.  Flint Journal, January 5, 2000
