Rashotte, Arthur W. - Arthur J. Rashotte, age 71, of Rhodes, MI, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007, at his residence following a lingering illness. He was born in Standish, MI, to Charles Rashotte and Elizabeth (Erwin) on July 23, 1936. Arthur William Rashotte marreid Nancy Jane (Norlock) on October 29, 1955. He resided in Rhodes for the past 18 years, and previously was the owner of Rashotte's Hatchery on Pinconning Rd. He was a retired welder of Dow Chemical and held many fond memories of his buddies there. He was an active member of the Pinconning Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, and served as a faithful brother in his ministry since his baptism in 1972. He was predeceased by his son Daniel William, and his brother Charles. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two sons: John Arthur (Susan), of Alger, and Steven Joseph (Tammy), of South Carolina, and two daughters: Lorrie Ann Urbaniak (Ronald K.) of Rhodes, and Lisa Marie Taylor (James), of Bay City; 12 grandchildren: Jeff, Heidi, Vanessa, Misti, Lucas, Amy, Brennan, Brielle, Jonathan, Kasandra, Joseph Arthur, and Nickole Elizabeth; nine great grandchildren; and two sisters: Betty Willis (Jack), and Geri Rashotte. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Pinconning Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Pinconning, MI, 317 N. Water Street with Edward D. Rose officiating. Pinconning Journal, August 15, 2007 Rashotte, Charles - Charles "Tim" Rashotte, age 50, of Pinconning, Michigan, passed away December 22, 2006, at his residence Reno, Josephine M. - Age 68, she died yesterday, June 8, 1980 at Bay Medican Center. She was born April 25, 1912 in Pine River, MI, Arenac County. She was the former Josephine LaClair. She married Ernest J. Reno June 15, 1932 in Standish. Mrs. Reno resided all of her life in the Standish area. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Standish and also the Daughters of Isabella. Surviving are her husband, Ernest, 2 Sons: Richard of Harrisville, MI; Gerald of Wurtsmith Air Base, Oscoda, MI; 8 Grandchildren; a sister and 4 brothers: Mrs. Mary Adams of AuGres, MI, Paul LaClair, of Standish, Elmer LaClair of Beaverton, Louis LaClair of AuGres, James LaClair of Standish. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 1980 at 10:00 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Standish. The Rev. Fr. Emmett Marceau will officiate. Tuesday evening. Arenac County Independent, June 9, 1980 Reno, Theodore J. - Theodore J. Reno, 70, of Standish, passed away on Aug. 17, 2007 at St. Mary's of Michigan Standish Hospital. He was born on Feb. 12, 1937 to Theodore and Cecelia (Dubey) Reno in Bay City, Mich. He married Patricia Vinecki on July 11, 1959 in Gaylord. Ted was a lifelong resident and retired from General Motors, Bay City Chevrolet in 1990. He was employed at the R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel for the past 17 years. Ted was a member of the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council #2724 and a member of the U.A.W. Ted is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Peter (Elizabeth), of New Jersey, Paul, of Standish, Mary (Curtis) Drouse, of Bay City, John (Sherry), of Iowa, Donald, of Standish and Diane (Mark) Hammond, of Wisconsin; six grandchildren; one brother, Ronald (Lou Ann); and three sisters, Nancy (Donald) Stodolak, Mary Lou (Dale) Schmidt and Patricia (John) Cook. Ted was preceded in death by his son, Phillip; parents, Theodore and Cecilia; brothers, Alicide and Donald; and daughter-in-law, Jeannette Reno. The funeral mass was held on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 11 a.m. from the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church on Standish. Visitation was on Monday, Aug. 20, from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. at the R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel in Standish with a 6:30 p.m. K of C service and a 7:30 p.m. prayer service. Ted laid in state at the church from 10 a.m. until time of the service. Cremation followed. Memorial are requested to the wishes of the family. Arenac Independent, August 2007 Richey, Cora - Mrs. Napoleon Richey. The following item is written by a West Brandon correspondent: This town was greatly shocked and grieved to learn of the sudden death of our beloved neighbor and friend, Mrs. Napoleon Richey at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone on Thursday morning. Mrs. Richey has been in poor health for some time but was able to be up and around. She was taken worse about two weeks ago but after a few days seemed to rally and was able to sit up. She was taken suddenly worse Tuesday night and was removed to the Alice Hyde Hospital where everything possible was done for her, but continued to fail until the end which occurred about one o'clock Thursday morning without regaining consciousness after being taken there. She intended entering a hospital in Montreal the last of the month, but delayed too long. Mrs. Richey had only resided here about two years, but had made many friends in that time, who are greived at her passing. She was a young woman of finest character, a loving wife, mother and daughter and will be so missed in her home where she was always working to make it more cheerful and beautiful. Mrs. Richey's maiden name was Cora LeClair, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas LeClair of Churubusco. She leaves to mourn her husband, two little sons, her parents and several brothers and sisters. She was removed to the home of her parents and the funeral was held from the Roman Catholic church at Churubusco and the large concourse that followed her to her last resting place and the many floral offerings showed the esteem and love in which she was held. The very deepest sympathy is extended to the bereaved ones, especially the heart broken husband, sons and invalid mother. Unknown paper, 1930 Richey, Napoleon M. - Napoleon M. Richey, 76, of 67 Pearl St. died Sunday, October 17, in Saranac General Hospital after a long illness. Born in Cazaville, Que., April 9, 1895, he was a son of Mose and Elisabeth Soucia Richey. He was a dairy farmer in the Churubusco area most of his working life and also operated a French bread route for about 30 years. He came to Malone to reside after retirement. He was twice married. His first wife, the former Cora LeClair, died in 1930. In 1934 he was married to the former Martha Rushford in St. Philomena's Church in Churubusco. She survives. Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons; Exior of Liverpool, N.Y., Lloyd of Malone and Paul of Syracuse; four brothers, Ovilia of Massena, Daliace of Ogdensburg, Oxias of Malone and Benjamin of Massena; five sisters, Mrs. Rose Benjamin of Springfield, Mass., Mrs. Alma LaClair of Chateaugay, Mrs. Delia Taylor of Burke. Mrs. Elisabeth Deraps of Syracuse and Mrs. Clayton (Amelia) Cheyne of Chateaugay; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Tina Gloria, predeceased him in infancy and a brother, Emmanuel, died in 1968. Funeral services were held at Notre Dame Church Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial was in Immaculate Heart of Mary Cemetery, Churubusco. Chateaugay Record, October 28, 1971 Richey, Virginie - Mrs. Oliva (Virginia LaClair) Richey, 85, died at the Massena Nursing Home, December 17, 1976. Born in Standish, Michigan, on January 28, 1891, she was married to Oliva Richey February 20, 1911, in Churubusco, moving to Massena in 1920. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auziliary, Sacred Heart League, and Massena Senior Citizens Club. Surviving besides her husband are three sons, Joseph, North Syracuse; Isodora and Floyd, Massena; thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Selina Thibeault, Churubusco, and Mrs. Mary Miller, Plattsburgh; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday in the Sacred Heart Church, Massena, with Rev. Monsignor Floyd Brown officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in the Spring. Unknown paper, 1976 Robare, Adolphus - Another of the older residents has been called to his eternal rest in the passing of Adolphus Robare which took place Friday morning after an illness, of five weeks duration. Mr. Robare was born at St. Chrysostome, Que., on December 12, 1843, and spent, his boyhood days there. In the year 1860 he removed to Churubusco where he resided until 1864 when he enlisted as a member of the Ninth Regiment New York State during the Civil War, where he served until the close after which he received an honorable discharge. Mr. Robare then returned to Churuhusco and in 1866 he was united in marriage to Miss Phoebe Patnode, of St. Urbain, Que., and they have resided here since. He was the last soldier in the Civil War from the town of Clinton. Mr. Robare followed the occupation of farming and was a man who commanded the highest respect and esteem, being strictly honest and upright in dealings with his fellow men and his loss is keenly mourned by all. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Louise Senay, of Fall River, Mass., Mrs. James McGaulley, of .Schenectady, and Miss Victoria, of this place, three, sons, Daniel, of Malone, Felix, of Utica, and Elmer, of Rochester, one brother Julius, of Warren, R. I., a sister, Mrs. David Reil, of Thorndyke, Mass., and thirty-two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Philomena's church Monday morning, Rev. A. P. Landry officiating. Members of the G. A. R. Post and American Legion of Chateaugay were in attendance. Chateaugay Record, April 1929 Robare, Daniel - Daniel Robare, a former resident of Churubusco, died at the Alice Hyde Hospital In Malone on Monday morning. For three years he had been in failing health. Mr. Robare was born in Churubusco on October 24, 1869, a son of the late Adolphus and Phoebe (Patnode) Robare. He married Ellen Sampica and her death occurred 24 years ago. He had been a resident of Malone for 18 years. Surviving are four daughters and three sons; Mrs. Anna Miner, Mrs. Margaret Burns, Malone: Mrs. Arthur (Eleanor) Hebert, Churubusco; Mrs. Elizabeth Durocher, Watertown; Willard, Churubusco; Patrick, Malone; Joseph, Pleasant Valley; three sisters, Mrs. Louise Senay, Fall River, Mass.; Mrs. Emma McGaulley, Schenectady; Mrs. Victoria Parent, Churubusco; one brother, Elmer, Rochester; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Philomena’s church in Churubusco on Wednesday morning and the body was placed in the parish vault. Chateaugay Record, February 5, 1954 Robare, Ellen - Mrs. Daniel Robare passed away Sunday morning. November 4th, at the Alice Hyde Hospital after a short illness of five days. The deceased was 56 years of age. Mrs. Robare was born in Churubusco, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. Samplca. She was united in marriage with Daniel Robare in 1805 at Churubusco and lived in that community nearly all of her life. About a year ago she moved to Malone where she was residing at the time of her death. Mrs. Robare was a devoted mother and her kindly disposition made her many friends. She was ever ready In time of sickness to lend her assistance and was known as a charitable woman. Her passing is deeply regretted. Surviving are her husband, three sons, Willard, of Churubusco; Patrick, of Boston, and Joseph, of Watertown; four daughters, Mrs. Amos Minor and Mrs. Henry J. Burns, of Malone; Mrs. Arthur Abare, of Churubusco, and Mrs. L. G. Robare, of Watertown. She also leaves two brothers, S. Sampica, of St. Albans, Vt., and P. Samplca, of Ausable Forks, and two sisters, Mrs. C. E. Mear, of Dannemora, and Miss Anna Sampica, of Burlington, Vt. Funeral services were held at Notre Dame church on Wednesday morning and burial was at Churubusco where the deceased was long a resident. Chateaugay Record, November 16, 1928 Robare, John - Death of John Robare. John Robare passed away on August 24th at the Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone after a short illness. The deceased was born in Churubusco in the year 1854 and has since resided at his farm home just two miles north of this village. Mr. Robare was an honest, upright citizen and will be sadly missed not only by his relatives but by his neighbors and friends. Fourteen years ago this August he was united in marriage with Miss Lydia Patnode, of Cherubusco, who survives him together with four children, the oldest thirteen years and the youngest five months. His parents, also three sisters and three brothers, Miss Victoria, who resides at home, Mrs. James McGaulley, of Schenectady, Mrs. Charles Senay, of Fall River, Mass., Felix Robare, of Utica, Elmer, of Rochester, and Daniel, of Malone. The funeral was largely attended Monday morning at St. Philomena's church. Chateaugay Record, September 7, 1928 Robare, Odelia Mary (LeClair) - Mrs. E. Robare Died Last Friday. Mrs. Elmer Robare, 77 years old passed away at a Rochester hospital on Friday September 23. She suffered a stroke six years ago and since that time had been an invalid. Survivors besides her husband are two sons, Herbie and Peter, and four daughters: Dora Mae, Doris and Irene of Rochester, and Cecile of France. Five sisters: Mrs. Willis Root and Mrs. Ovelia Richey of Massena, Mrs. George Miller, Plattsburg, Mrs. Doris Boulion, Syracuse, and Mrs. Arthur Thebeault of Chateaugay. Four brothers: Thomas LeClair Jr, Churubusco, Peter, Chateaugay, George of Rochester and Bert, Plattsburg. Also several grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday and burial made in the family plot at Rochester. Pallbearers were six grandsons. Chateaugay Record, October 6, 1960 Robare, Phoebe - Mrs. Adolphus Robare. One of the older residents of this place was called to her reward in the demise of Mrs. Adolphus Robare which occurred at her home last Thursday. She was born at St. Urbain, Que., on April 14, 1843, and came to this country in 1858. She was united in marriage to Adolphus Robare in 1864, and has since resided here. Her husband, who was a veteran of the Civil War, died on April 5, 1929. The deceased was devoted to her home and family, and was a steadfast Christian and her passing is greatly lamented. She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Mrs. Charles Senay, of Somerset, Mass., Mrs. James McGaulley, of Schenactady, and Mrs. Telesphore Parent, of Churubusco, Daniel, of Malone, Elmer, of Rochester, and Philip, of Utica, also twenty nine grandchildren and twenty four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. Philomena’s church on Saturday morning. A solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated by the pastor Rev. A. P. Landry, assisted by Revs. Laporte and Laduceur of Malone. Interment was made in St. Philomena’s cemetery. Chateaugay Record, April 7, 1933 Roe, Amelia (Amy) - Amy (Fill) Roe, 83, of Standish, passed away at the Saint Mary's Standish Community Hospital on Tuesday, March Root, Anastosia (Stella) -Mrs. Willis L. Root. Funeral services for Stella LeClair Root, 85 of 92 Water St., widow of Willis Root, were held this morning at 11 o'clock in Sacred Heart Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. The body was at the Phillips Memorial Home. Mrs. Root died in Massena Memorial Hospital at 2:10 o'clock Saturday afternoon, January 13, 1973. She had been a patient at the hospital for a period of nine days, then returned home on Friday, but became ill again Saturday morning adn was taken to the hospital where she died within a few hours. Surviving are one son, William Root, Jr., 92 Water St.; foru daughters, Mrs. Carl (Irene) Weitz, Syracuse, Mrs. Daniel (Anna) Dickerson, Washington, D.C., Mrs. A. Lincoln (Lena) Cooke, Clarkson Ave., Mrs. Carl (Rita) White, 29 Howard St.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, George LeClair, Rochester; three sisters, Mrs. Ovila J. (Virginia) Richey, Massena, Mrs. George (Mary) Miller, Plattsburgh, and Thomas (Salina) Tebo, Churubusco. Mrs. Root was born in Standish, Michigan, September 15, 1887, a daughter of Thomas and Odile Poupore LeClair. She lived in Michigan until she was 12 years old, when she moved with her family to Chateaugay. She and Willis Root, a native of Forest, New York, were married Christmas Day, 1908, in Churubusco. They moved to Massena from Churubusco in 1922. He died July 3, 1961, at the age of 74 years. Mrs. Root was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, member of the League of the Sacred Heart, Senior Citizens Club and the national senior citizens organization. Unknown paper, 1973 Rossen, Albert G. - Albert G. Rossen passed away Tuesday, April 18, at St. Mary's in Saginaw at age 88 years. He was born on May 2, 1919 in Detroit to William and Louise Rossen. Albert served proudly in WWII in the 43rd Tank Battalion as a Staff Sergeant. He returned to Standish and worked as a tool dresser for Voorhees Drilling Company. Albert then began his farming career in Standish. He had a huge love of farming and doing it right. Albert so loved to share his army and farming stories with everyone. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. On May 19, 1940, he married the former Helen Ostroski and she survives his passing. In their 67 years of marriage, they have a son, Robert (Jeanette) Rossen, of Standish; daughters, Shirley (Wallace) Romanik, of Pinconning, Sharon (Wesley) Crook, of St. Charles and Shelley (Jerome) Kusey, of Standish; also very sadly missed by his grandchildren, Cody, Gerrit, Larissa, Chase, Colby, Kerrigan, Triniti, Jacob, Treyton and Allen; sister, Olga Wisniewski, of Standish; brothers William and Frank and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a dear grandson, Kevin Robert Rossen; sisters, Helen Waidlich and Algenline Lickfeldt. Albert was a member of the Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars and M.M.P.A. The funeral mass took place on Saturday, April 12, at 11 a.m. at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in Standish. Albert laid in state at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Friends called at the R.O. Savage Funeral Chapel from 1-9 p.m. on Friday, April 11 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus service at 7:30 p.m. Burial is in the Resurrection Cemetery in Standish.
