Obituaries - S

Sancomb, Mrs. Edward - Mrs. Edward Sancomb died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leland Murphy at Malone on Friday morning following an illness of four years, which terminated in a heart attack. Her condition became critical three weeks ago. The deceased was born in Ellenburg in 1872, a daughter of John and Zoie (Gendreau) LeClair and her younger days were passed at home, until her marriage to Edward Sancomb, which occurred February 25, 1895. Since that time they resided on a farm southeast of this village, until about a year ago, when they moved to Malone to reside with their daughter. Mrs. Sancomb was an example of the true follower of Christ. In her sufferings she was patient and ever cheerful, endeavoring to hide from the family the pain and misery which she underwent. She was decidedly a home woman, the true wife and mother, who sacrificed many pleasures in order that she might be with her children to bring them up in the fear and love of God. Her death caste a gloom over the community as she was always ready with a good word for everyone. She was blessed with her fondest wish to die a beautiful death, and was resigned to go to receive her eternal reward. Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Leland Murphy, of Malone, a son Henry R. Sancomb, of Worcester. Mass., two grandchildren, her father, John LeClair, of Chateaugay, three sisters, Mrs. Oliver Taylor of Chateaugay, Mrs. John Dumont, of Johnson City, and Mrs. Oliver Wood, of Detroit. Mich, William, of Pawtucket. R. I., John, of Leominster, Mass., Frank, of Churubusco. and George of Johnson City. The funeral services were held at St. Joseph’s church In Malone on Monday morning, Rev. F. M. Kenny officiating and interment was made in St. Patrick's cemetery at Chateaugay.
